Hello interwebs! I'm finally posting for the first time in about a year??!? To show how much I've missed you all... I have for u a bunch of awesome mspaint drawings of retarded pokemons:
THESE THINGS ARE PROBABLY NOT EVEN POKEMONS??!??!
THESE ARE DEFINITELY NOT POKEMONS?!??!
THESE ARE POSSIBLY POKEMONS BUT MOST LIKELY NOT?!?!??!
OK now for something sorta serious. Above are 3 sample spreads from the original version of one out of a series of kids books that I have been working on since about January.
There were originally 6 planned, but the last one got dropped b/c one of the middle ones ended up being twice as long as the others. At any rate... The books are finally going into print in CHINA (US version is still in negotiations and probably won't hit the market until quite a bit later)
It has been a pretty high stress experience?!? Dealing with Chinese people is an incredibly... educational experience??!? The above were the originals... HOWEVER... about halfway through... I was on the third book and sent them half of it in the completed form and half of them in a dummy form... The Chinese publishers decided that they preferred the dummy to the originals because the originals were too "modern" and the dummy was more "natural media".
At any rate... what is going into print and hitting the shelfs are these:
While I agree that I probably could have cleaned up the originals a bit more and what actually is going into print does look more "natural media" I'm still kinda more than a little disappointed in China's editorial process?!?!?! Maybe I got unlucky with this set of publishers, but from my previous experience in television over there, my suspicions are that this is more or less how it works everywhere...
On the plus side the originals are in negotiation with various US publishers, hopefully they'll be on shelfs in the upcoming years. ;D IF they ever DO hit the shelves... would any of you be interested in buying some copies?!???!
